… there are so many good ones to chose from!
Since we live in a small house, I try to keep the Christmas decor on the simple(r) side and this year – instead of adding to the decor in our cozy (isn’t that a nice way to describe it?) living room – I swapped out frames on our picture shelves for free holiday printables I found on Pinterest.
There are many talented bloggers out there willing to share their work – much needed considering my lack of design skills – and here the prints I’m loving:
To add a few additional decor elements, I got the big sparkly, twine star and red lantern from Pier 1.
I finally got around to ordering stockings, but since we lack a fireplace and/or mantle, the shelves are acting as a faux mantle of sorts. They’re versatile I tell you! To hang the stockings, all we used were extra ornament hooks. Easy as that. Now obviously, they won’t hold the stockings when Santa stuffs them ;), but I think he’ll know what to do.
And because it was hard to narrow down which prints I wanted to use, here’s a few other favorites I found floating around the internet:
I can’t decide if I’ll change these out each Christmas, but I do know that Jeff would like me to stop asking him for his opinion and then not take it. Marriage, am I right? 🙂
err, I mean woman.
Although, I should probably give you a head’s up that this post isn’t really about me “changing my ways” – lord knows I could devote many posts to that – but rather, about adding a few new mirrors to our living room. You know, the one we started decorating in January.
So what was originally the burgundy(ish) accent wall in the living room ended up staying blank for many months thanks to my indecisiveness. However…this past weekend I found mirrors at good ol’ Target I think will work!
^^Jeff wanted photos on the wall, but I’ve always been a firm believer we need mirrors there. Anything to make our teeny, tiny living room look just a little bit bigger. As you can see, we went with mirrors, but (!) that’s not to say I “won” the argument, more like I just had a stronger opinion that won Jeff over. That’s all. 😉 ^^
I wish I could say we measured everything in a methodical manner before we started putting holes in the wall, but not so much. Thankfully, I have Jeff – who knows what he’s doing.
Comparing the ‘before’ (like way before), and ‘after’ shots, I’d say overall I’m pleased with the update! Have a look for your self.
⇓ Or there’s this angle to give you another look at the wall/room. ⇓
^^What do you all (or y’all) think? I think I like them, but still be open to suggestions!^
Also, I’m still on a never-ending quest to get the perfect frames and trinkets for the shelves, so as soon as I feel like those are nearly complete I’ll share a close-up look with all of you.
⇓ In the meantime, I’m gonna go back to creeping on Cosmo through the mirrors. ⇓
and by “there,” I mean finished. Though as I’ve learned in the world of home renovations, nothing’s ever really finished. Probably not the best thing for an a-type personality like myself. I mean, not that Jeff’s ever made any snarky remarks or anything. 😉
Today, I thought I’d check-in with all of you and give you the latest scoop on the living room transformation (of sorts).
Here’s how far we’ve come…
Here’s a little reminder of where we began…
And here’s where I last updated you on our progress…
It’s mainly decor additions at this point (my favorite part of the process), and maybe the part where I tend to go a little overboard. If I had it my way, there would probably be more than a few photos of the pups, but it’s a good thing I have Jeff to rein me in.
^^Why, hello there!^^
I’m still in the process of finding and arranging decor and photos for both walls of shelves, so as of now things are in a preliminary place, but I have no doubt I’ll be making some changes. In fact, I bought all the brown frames before we made any decisions about the living room, and now I’m already looking to mix that wall up a little.
As soon as it’s all in order, I’ll share a closer look at everything we chose to use. (Try not to lose any sleep while you wait in anticipation 🙂 )
In the meantime, let me know if you have any suggestions. New ideas welcome!
